One of HGTV’ s newest weekly series, “My Big Amazing Renovation” is coming to Hunterdon County, NJ and surrounding areas to film BIG, AMAZING, renovations! Each half-hour episode features some of the most incredible renovations throughout the country with the inspiring homeowners who transform their current home into their dream home! They contacted us to help get the word out to find Hunterdon County homeowners who are:

* Just starting a major renovation (ideally already in demo)
* Are doubling the size of their house
* Are transforming the original space including the kitchen
* Have several unique design projects planned for the renovation
* Have a set budget & timeframe for the completion of the renovation

Annual Country Fair

The Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Tewksbury, NJ will be having their Annual Country Fair on June 14, 2008. It is a very exciting day full of “old fashion” fun with lots of children and families! They have pony rides, face painting, games and tons of food and fun!

They are also looking for vendors and/or businesses looking to participate in the day and join in the fun!!! This is a great way to share your business with the community! The table fee is $25 for a 10 x 10 space, if you could please bring your own table, 2 chairs will be provided.

Franklin Theatre Works Youth Ensemble Presents Jane Eyre

The most experienced middle school and high school actors of Franklin Theatre Works bring Jane Eyre to the stage in May. This faithful adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s classic 1847 novel follows the story of an orphan who overcomes a grim, lonely childhood and blossoms into an independent, spirited young woman. This dramatic adaptation allows three different actresses to portray the title character of Jane. There is the ten-year-old Jane, played by 7th grader Kaity Edelmann of Flemington, the eighteen-year-old Jane, played by 7th grader Arlene Holsinger of Flemington, and the oldest Jane, played by North Hunterdon High School sophomore Rachel Potter of Pittstown, who looks back at the events in the story from twelve years in the future. This final Jane remains on stage throughout the entire play and serves as a narrator providing insights into the thoughts and emotions of the younger versions of Jane. Arlene Holsinger, who plays the eighteen-year-old Jane, admires her character’s strong and independent spirit. Zach Potter, a North Hunterdon High School sophomore from Pittstown, playing Edward Rochester, enjoys the challenge of portraying the moody man whose angry exterior hides a wounded soul. Andrew Maggio, a North Hunterdon High School sophomore from Pittstown, who plays the young clergyman St. John Rivers, finds it interesting to portray someone whose fanatical dedication to a cause has turned him into and cold and selfish man.

Jane Eyre will be performed on Friday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the theatre of Franklin Township School in Quakertown. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for seniors and students, and will be available at the door. Refreshments will be sold at intermission. Franklin Theatre Works is a non-profit theatre arts program open to all students throughout Hunterdon, Somerset and Warren Counties, with a mission to provide children with increased exposure to theatre arts. Since founding the group in 2003, Executive Director Maeve Pambianchi has directed hundreds of students in 24 full-scale productions. Ms. Pambianchi has worked professionally as an actor, singer and dancer. She studied for ten years under Obie Award and Drama Desk winning director and acting teacher Gene Frankel, who was one of the earliest members of the Actors’ Studio. In 2007 Ms. Pambianchi received the Hiram Deats Award from Rural Awareness for inspiring youth through her theatre arts program. Ms. Pambianchi chose to present Jane Eyre because she feels it is important to expose young people to classic literature. Past productions have included Little Women, Treasure Island, Oliver, Hamlet and Homer’s The Odyssey. Ms. Pambianchi also says this production is a wonderful vehicle for her students because it has such a large cast of characters and provides many different kinds of roles. And finally, she chose Jane Eyre because it is one of the greatest love stories.

A new performance arm of Franklin Theatre Works, The Ensemble Theatre of New Jersey, will offer performing arts opportunities for the serious high school student and the adult actor. This new community theatre company will focus on the plays of Shakespeare, Ibsen, Chekhov, O’Neill and Williams, as well as the occasional musical. Open auditions for The Ensemble Theatre of New Jersey will be held on Monday, May 5 at the Hunterdon County Library on Route 12 in Flemington from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Those interested should bring a two-minute monologue and song of their choice. They should also bring a resume and photo. No previous acting experience is necessary, because those with interest will be trained.
