“This is the new park just built summer 2004.   The playground is nice, with 2 distinct sections depending on age. Lots of soccer fields, and open space to play. The park showed some early signs of wear, with some broken items already. On a hot summer day, this is likely to be very hot, as there is no shade at all. But for the average day, it provides lots of variety and space to play for all ages!”  from Karen

Because we always get asked, here are directions: Off Route 173 in Bethlehem Township (take Exit 11 off of 78W, head about 3 miles west towards West Portal – Jugtown Mtn. The park is located approx. 1/2 mile past the Spanish restaurant on the right hand side of the road. Look for a small Heritage park sign located by the turnoff. The park is approx. 1/2 mi down a gravel road.)

“This park has some challenging terrain for a mom getting back into shape so bring your jog stroller or a stroller with larger wheels for the trails. The best thing about this park is most of the paths are in the shade. There is also a good amount of pavement on which to stroll. There are several swing sets, picnic tables and BBQ’s for those with preschoolers looking for an outing.”

“Good park for preschoolers and grade school age kids.  It has a small slide and smaller swings for the younger ones and two large slides and a tire swing for the older ones.  Lots of small rocks to fill in dump trucks, which my boys love to do!  Playground equipment is wooden with lots of climbing areas, a bridge and a tunnel.  Also a nice pond with geese and a large field for playing ball.  Small basketball area that is great for tricycle riding.  A couple of nice picnic tables.  Largest drawback is that the wooden structures are getting weathered and splinters are a common problem.” from Nancy

“The playground is well built and offers amusement for toddlers as well as older children. There is open space for meandering, a pond for frog watching and a place to enjoy your lunch in the shade. I believe the pond could use a little clean up work though. All the same, it is a very accomodating park.” from Sally W.
